Both Hanson and von Trier have created a distance between the things they are describing. This distance has literally calcified in time with Hanson, preserving moments in life where we can pause and observe our favorite observation, other humans. Reaping all the benefits, Hanson became a fabulous director providing us with the ultimate voyeurism!

Lars von Trier....an alien. He is a being who studies humans, and our behavioral patterns. A being who has shed light on world that was once foreign to me. von Trier does not deal with time in the same sense at Hanson, but by placing obstructions and attempting to further explore a film entitled " The Perfect Human", von Trier became the sculptor of perfect human moments.
