Arrest made after women pushed on subway platform

Two women standing on a Toronto subway platform on Christmas Eve narrowly escaped death after a complete stranger pushed them towards the tracks.
The women managed to keep their footing and stay safely on the platform.
Toronto police say they have a suspect in custody.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Station, located at the corner of King Street West and University Avenue.
Police say a male suspect approached a 22-year-old woman who was standing on the platform waiting for the northbound train. The woman was pushed just as the train was pulling into the station. Luckily, she managed to escape and call TTC staff for help.
While she made the call, the suspect ran over to the southbound platform where a second woman was pushed. Police say they haven't identified the second woman.
The suspect was then seen boarding the southbound train.
However, he was arrested a short time later by TTC Special Constables.
Sean Duck, a 29-year-old resident of Toronto, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Hack Into MY mainframe Crash Override! I dare ya!
My girlfriend is in Shanghai working right now and in every attempt to access our blog (because it is her favorite and she cannot live without it) she is blocked or prevented from seeing it. I was well aware of the Chinese government's strongarm attempts at censoring the internet, especially from all the news coverage that it recieved around the time of the Bejing Olympic Games. It was in fact my professor ,Ron Diebert and his research students at The Citizen's Lab at U of T, that really uncovered the cyber espionage network based out of China, or "The Great Firewall of China." Sounds like something straight out of a Bond film eh? To spare my fingers the pontential arthretic pain that might associate itself with the amount of typing required to give this subject its due respect, I'll just copy-and-paste a few links to people who actually did the work.
Dangerous terms like Human Rights (gasp!), Tibet (Eeeek!), Tiananmen Square (Uh Oh!), Falun Gong (Geez, now ya did it!) and others, set off alarms to the covert Chinese watch dogs who block any attempts at further discussing or reading about such subjects. Even free speech community sites like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are blocked and cannot be accessed in China. AND neither can internet porn! Thats where I just draw the line! What good is the internet - what purpose does it serve in society- if one can't get off on something that tickles their fancy, like the Disclosure Project, FEMA Camps, 9/11 conspiracies, Codex Alimentarius and 18 year old's getting naked for the first time on camera! How dare they take that away from us - or the Chinese people, but I say us because we are all in this together right? BUT.....DONT WORRY, because, as in most Communist states, the black market thrives! So now, one can easily acquire illegal software programs for your computer that can hack through these firewalls so you can still access the almighty Book of Faces! (and Kate's Playground) Thank God! Take THAT you Commie Bastards!
Anyways, apparently our blog, or perhaps any blogs attached to the blogger.com network are NO NO's for Chinese internet surfers, which makes this issue personal for me! I am exercising my freedom by posting on my blog, but apparently my freedom to do so is a matter of sheer circumstance which until now I took for granted. But no more, in fact, my new goal for this blog is to help entice the Chinese people to liberate themselves from this Communist firewall and experience the pleasures of freedom. And I'll start with this little diddy right here:

Favourite thing about Toronto so far…
Running into friends on the street.
For someone who has only lived in this city for less than 2 months i feel so lucky to already have so many radical friends here.
I run into more people in this city on a daily basis than i ever did in Vancouver. But there aren't as many funny hipsters here. I miss them. Stoned Hipsters come up with the funniest shit...

after being disappointed by quite possibly one of the worst shows i have ever seen, i was surprised to learn that the Flaming Lips still kick ass. The new album is fucking awesome. This record is so good it almost made me forget that last year i sat through a 25 minute James Horner inspired version of Yoshimi.

I showed her my scratched up cornea, she showed me videos of celine dion and andrea bocceli performing a duet of which i could not quite make out, cornea and all.

Dig This!! or Don't??? I guess........
Everyone around the 283 Salem household found this pretty amusing. "I dig it" proclaimed Wigwam with glee. "Why the fuck didn't I think of that?" Wolfgang muttered. I, Treymor Blames aka Trev Trev aka Meticulous Curl, LOLed with joyous enthusiasm, and even our roommate of African decent Che Aimee said "Oh, boys will be boys" and sighed with a gutteral chuckle. None of us seemed to be the least bit offended....even by the black dude, who I find gives the most racist portrayal of them all. However, I was surprised by all the kerfuffle these guys created. They managed to score national headlining attention in The Globe and Mail even! WTF?! Perhaps, I'm ignorant and insensitive OR perhaps I represent the shifting consciousness of a new generation of postmodern (I just needed to throw that word in here somehow) liberal minded people who know longer see race as being an issue of extreme sensitivity and instead find space for comment and critique - which includes humor (see Dave Chappelle). HOWEVER, I doubt thats what these bros we're trying to suggest, but you know........

Wigwam is popping its 283 cherry blogging.
- Joyous little wigwam was spotted at the Horseshoe Tavern on Tuesday Nov 17th, it was an Art's and Craft's hosted night with bands Still Life Still and The Most Serene Republic. Also playing was a special guest artist represented by Arts and Crafts which I can't remember who it was....and I don't really care....and I missed it cause I was at home on my way to the Tavern....and I'm sure I will see this mysterious band like 8 times in my whole wigwam life.
- Still Life Still were so still on stage I didn't see anyone move except the keyboardist, and I'm pretty sure the short blond haired guitarist was lying on the ground playing the guitar or he just wasn't on stage lastnight (by the way the Italics button won't release on this computer.....so that's why it looks like this). Still Life Still, I was informed about all the buzz this band was creating, and also respecting and enjoying Arts and Crafts as a label I have to say I was disappointed in the Broken Social Scene wanna-bes. Just because your from Toronto doesn't mean if you sound similar to Broken Social you are going to be as good......develop your own soul signiture.
- The Most Serene Republic....well well....this band I very much like. I listen to them on my ipod a lot. I think there songs are unique and unpredictable. I like their intricate melodies, clashy yet sophisticated harmonies, and all around musicianship. BUT---lastnight they were off. It sounded like a horrible mess were no one was playing together and it was just a bunch of egos battling eachother to be heard on stage. PLEASE don't speak to the audience just because you think we want to hear you talk while you tune....tune your guitar if you have to! ITs an instrument and it deserves some attention...this way you can play better!! We understand!!! Just don't talk to us!
- Wigwam left very uninspired...bored...and thinks that Toronto bands that try to look and sound the same are becoming the boring shit ever........! I hope that next time I go see a Toronto band they can make me sweat as much as DDMMYY did when they opened for Dan Deacon at the Great Hall on November 4th. -----This show blew my whole wigwam LOAD...(of trees and branches).
